Wear and There

Fast fashion utilizes trend replication; studying runways/catwalks, rapidly producing low quality garments in order to bring inexpensive trendy styles to the public. The mass production of cheap, poor quality disposable clothing has greatly influenced consumers to buy more.

Problem

Companies, manufacturers and many more, are held responsible for fast fashion. Consumers specifically, can be the first to take action and make a change. How might we inspire consumers to shift to intentional consumption to disrupt the fast fashion industry?

Solution

The first step in disrupting the fast fashion industry to get consumers to be aware of this problem. This mobile app serves as a resource for consumers in how to rethink their shopping habits and ultimately help disrupt the fast fashion industry.

Features include:
• Augmented Reality (AR) feature– consumers can scan laundry tags, or upload photos to get information about their garment and provide an overall rating
• Curated clothing pieces that are currently in the market at selected fashion brands to illustrate the impact
• Fabric glossary–consumers can educate themselves about materials and make better choices
• Fashion footprint quiz where users answer questions to see how their choice of shopping habits impacts the environment and compare with other people’s answers
• Engagements–articles, external resources to stay engaged about fast fashion and what users can do
